CJM Mission Statement

To Bring Christ’s message of love, compassion, reconciliation, and hope through person-to-person response to the needs of prisoners, their families, those recently released from prison, victims, and others involved in the justice system within the St. Louis Archdiocese.

Direct Service

  • Inside Services
    • Visit-one-on-one with incarcerated men and women
    • Provide religious services
    • Teach classes in meditation and personal development
    • Tutor in reading and math

  • Outside Services
    • Write letters to persons in prison
    • Assist families of prisoners
    • House ex-prisoners and help them in their transition
    • Limited financial assistance for re-entry
    • Occasional advocacy for known persons
    • Aid with finding employment

Education

  • increase understanding of the criminal justice system
  • provide pertinent research to legislators and other officials
  • present crime and punishment in the light of the Gospel
